Small Jean-Baptiste Lagimodière Alpaca Wool Sash

40$

This sash is handmade on a loom using alpaca wool. Its design is a replica of the L’.Assomption style sash which Jean-Baptiste Lagimodière wore. This is a great sash to celebrate the fur trading era and for canoe enthusiasts who want to relive the glory days of the river highways. The colours were inspired by First Nations with the idea that the more colourful sashes were in higher demand within these communities. Marie-Anne Gaboury, the first white woman in Western Canada, and Lagimodière are the grandparents of Louis Riel. This is a perfect sash for anyone related to them. Lagimodière’s original sash is currently on display at the Manitoba Museum.
